INFJs seek specific qualities from partners and friends. We value intelligence, honesty, authenticity, creativity, passion, and kindness.Any time I read an article about INFJs and relationships, it seems to repeat the same advice: our “ideal” match is the ENTP personality type. Then there is almost always a statement about how any two personality types can make a relationship work if they try hard enough.

Among personality characteristics that influence a relationship, the group of informational characteristics particularly stands out.

When some people hear about my personality work, most people think of the Myers-Briggs Test, and tell me they are an ‘INFP’ or an ‘ENFJ’, and ask what I am and how it’s used at e Harmony.

The next part always shocks them: we don’t use the Myers-Briggs. When I tell them that the personality type they just told me isn’t used and doesn’t have much meaning to me, they can’t believe it.

The Myers-Briggs is one of the most popular personality assessments, used by hiring managers at many companies, some government agencies, and even some other online dating sites.

These tests will categorize you into a certain “type” of personality, either giving you 1 of 16 types, labeling you as a “caregiver”, “idealist”, “scientist”, or a number of others.

While many things in this world change, making the right choice of a life and romance partner remains of a great importance.

Some find love at first sight, others require a lengthy dating process to find their true soul mate, while some may even never end up finding “the one”.

The MBTI® Perceiving Preference, which explains how we process information and our subjective views of the world, includes two distinctly opposite preferences: Sensing and Intuition.

Those that prefer Sensing take in information from the outside world through their five senses, including sight, smell, sound, taste, and touch, and use this objective information to formulate their ideas based on what is presently concrete and substantial.

This information may not apply to every INFJ, or the other personality types I have described below, but it is based on the patterns of behavior I have observed in my lifetime.

I am hoping that through this article, I can provide a little insight into how INFJs feel about other personality types. Extroverts are exciting and stimulating to be around.
